MAKE KNOWLEDGE VALUABLE
JOIN THE BIGGEST OPEN SOURCE BLOCKCHAIN COMPETITION FOR EDUCATIONMore than 3000€ will be distributed to the winner.
What we would like to achieve
Our vision is to find a way to evaluate the value of knowledge. Who defines nowadays what is good and what is bad knowledge? Traditional institutions and renowned names are normally responsible for it. Imagine an ecosystem that honors and incentivizes the creation of valuable knowledge.
Why use the blockchain?
In order to solve the issues involved in building the most valuable knowledge space, the distributed nature of a peer review consensus could be used, along with blockchain technology, and more precisely, smart contracts. This network can exist independently of any platform, using its own ledger (blockchain).
This competition is meant to bring together an unlimited number of participating teams in a distributed fashion. They will be encouraged to come with and test their ruleset, meant at ensuring the best quality of content production and review. They will also try to use these rules to better qualify the increasing value of any single piece of content (Q&A).
The teams will need to process the actions of a series of users:
- Proofreader (student)
- Proofreader (tutor)
- Voters (popularity and usability)
- Sourcing (research and quotation)
Thirdly, formulating a white paper and starting an ICO for it is possible. In that way, we can collect capital and implement it practically in a variety of applications.
We give 1500 € for the first place, 1000€ for the second place and 500€ for the third place (in case that no external partners join us, we can increase the prize money). The winning team will be invited to come to Vienna and present the idea to a large audience.
On top of that, we offer you the unique opportunity to work with us on an entirely new approach that can help a lot of people. We will also introduce you to the partners who would like to support this amazing challenge.
Classificators (tagging of information by knowledge area in knowledge base for re-usability)
The actions that these users can do are the following:
- Ask questions
- Provide tutoring content
- Make proofreading on tutoring content
- Vote on content usability
- Post new source to back up or enhance current content
- Make relevant classification and tagging on the content
The rules must:
- incentivize quality and depreciate bad content
- Ensure that knowledge pieces gain value over time by contribution and classification
- A X factor must influence the value gain/loss of a piece of content
- One possible solution could be the credibility factor approach (Appendix)
- The X factor MUST not be influenced by monetary capital (not like SteemIt)
- The X factor must fluctuate over time (hard to gain easy to lose)
- Follow clear mathematical rules
- Be calculable with a calculator and/or r-script and/or MATLAB etc.
- Be practicable on the blockchain!
First, we want to encourage more people to think out of the box and deliver great results for such an important problem. We want to give the winners a stage where they can show the world what their idea is.
Secondly, we want to build a task force and make the code open source. Everybody should be able to contribute and take advantage of it. It has many widespread applications. (peer review of academic articles, giving credibility to news, etc.)
We are the founders of a platform called GoStudent, a platform that enables students between the age of 10-18 to ask any homework or knowledge related question, 24/7, via chat and for free (in Germany and Austria). It can be seen like a mixture of quora and stackexchange but only for younger students with simpler questions but fully dynamic (chat based). One big problem we discovered is to have a really good quality management system for the questions and answers that are being produced daily. What we like to propose is an open source peer-to-peer transactional environment that incentivizes both the people who are asking for valuable knowledge and the people who provide valuable knowledge.
